Elizabeth Okino DeVere (Betty Okino) Choreographer, Clinician, Judge

All levels Choreography, Touch-Ups, Clinics, MyGymJudge, and VEEP!

Hi, Im Elizabeth, but those of you in the gymnast world may know me better as Betty. During my many years representing the United States on the U.S. National Team, I became the National Champion on Balance Beam, won the American Cup title, earned 4 World Championship Medals, and was a member of the Bronze medal winning team at the 1992 Olympics. In 2002, I was even honored to be inducted into the Gymnastics Hall of Fame. I am happy to say that my contributions to gymnastics will live on in my 2 skills, “the Okino,” a triple turn on beam, and “the Okino 2,” bar dismount.

Aside from gymnastics, I’ve had some great successes in the worlds of dance and acting. My 20 years of dance training in several different styles (mainly ballet, jazz & contemporary), led me to 5 Junior National Dance Titles. From there, I was able to dance with Destiny’s Child and Celine Dion at the Grammys and Billboard Awards, respectively. I also danced with the Dixie Chicks at the Country Music Awards and Lou Bega on his American Tour.

On television, you may have seen me on TV Land’s “Jennifer Falls.” “Everybody Hates Chris,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Off Center,” "The Norm Show,” “Moesha,” or co-hosting Disney Channel’s “Z-Games.” When I was reading the bio’s during my initial perusal of the Precision website, I came across a statement in Nicole Langevin’s bio that said something to the effect, that her mission was to bring artistry back into artistic gymnastics…my feelings exactly. It is in this way, that our missions align most beautifully. I am grateful to be a part of the Precision team.
